Hood
Genetics: Hod
Hood is focused on the face and neck area of the body. It can stretch to just under the chest area.
Hood should imitate natural markings. Meaning that you can not have any fancy shapes or random 'holes' within Hood.
Hood can be either lighter or darker than the base coat.
You can also use dark grey, black, off-white and white.

Edge Restrictions

Coverage

Hood always starts at the head making its way down the neck.
Hood needs to cover a minimum of 20% of the face at minimum.
How you approach designing this is your choice.

You can make one side of the face different from the other side.
If you wish to make the other side different, you must make a small image in the corner of your import to show it has a 'two faced' effect. See below for further details on the two faced effect.

Below shows an example of how much we mean by 20% of the face requiring to be covered.

Multi-toning Hood

You can use multiple tones for your hood, for example but light and darker colours of your base colour.
You can make the toning parts appear to have a 'border' around the marking.

You may only use a maximum of 1 darker and 1 lighter OR 2 darker OR 2 lighter tones than your base colour.
Meaning that the hood would need to be a darker or lighter value than your base coat.
You will need to be careful of what colours you use as it is easy to go outside the HSV allowance with this.

Gradients

Keeping to the multi-toning rules above, you can allow some gradients in the marking.
Whether you allow the gradients to be part of the marking itself or just as a border edging is entirely your choice.
These gradients must be fully blended.
Ensure that you have no lines or holes in your blurs.

Two faced effect

We allow you to have a two faced effect which creates one side of the face to look different than the other.
We do still require you to have the minimum of 20% coverage even with this effect.
If you do the two faced effect, you MUST make another import showing the other side of the body and upload that file to stash for approvals too.
Ensure that both sides of the face matches up as close as you can get it to.
Marking interaction

Hood is one of those markings that covers quite a bit of the face and neck causing some interaction with other markings.
Whilst we don't particularly have a marking order, we do ask that you try to keep a natural look with this marking.
You may use same colours as other markings that may interact with Hood, such as accents and make it look like one marking rather than two in different places.
You may also design your imports so that you have 2 different markings.
For this example, Hood with Masked and Blanket has been used.

Snowstorm Cancelling out Hood

If you are trying to put snowstorm over the head down the neck like Hood's coverage.
Snowstorm is the only gene that would cancel out Hood appearing on a Mythikan if it took the same coverage range as Hood.
Hood can not appear under or over Snowstorm.
Reversal on Hood

If you have reversal on hood, it actually has next to no effect on hood except the hood does not reach down the neck and will only create a 'patch' like marking over the eyes and cheeks of the Mythikan.
With reversal, you can NOT use the two face effect as it creates two patches around both eyes and cheeks. Similar that to a panda's face.
These patches can come as oval, circular, square and diamond like shapes.
